Guidelines

First, check out our template you can use to construct your poet analyses by clicking here. Feel free to fill that out or use your own unique brand of blogging to critique poets listed on http://poetryblogrankings.com/. Visit the site and choose poets any way you see fit. You'll have to sign up for a free account if you've yet to do so.

Another tool at your disposal is the
Poet Search Engine, which includes a Random Poet generator, a poet finder, and way to select poets based on a particular genre, form, or style. Review poets, poems, and/or their poetry blog based on whatever aspects you find necessary. However you choose to critique poets, be sure to do so constructively, whether giving a positive or negative review. The goal should be to inspire poets to write more. So instead of just saying "Great!" or "Awful", say specifics to why you thought it was great or awful, and perhaps steps they could take to further improve their work or appeal to more people besides yourself, realizing all the while that it is JUST YOUR OPINION.

Title your posts however you wish, keeping in mind that certain titles will get read/understood more than others. The Poet Profile url can be found on that poet's PoetryBlogRankings.com profile. "Label" your post in the space provided at the bottom of the blog (entitled "Labels for this post") with the poet's name, as it's listed on PoetryBlogRankings.com. If you mess up, just reedit your post. I'll randomly sift through these posts and edit the ones that need major reworking.
Feel free to review poets, poems, sites, poetry contest entries, or whatever you think might interest readers. You can review as many poets as you'd like, as often as you'd like. Please use these guidelines before posting until you're sure you understand everything I've mentioned above. Read the reviews that others have posted to get some ideas of your own as well.

Strengths:

Her lustful, erotic poetry never gets old. More than anything, however, her character shines through her every piece. A great poet for any reader who truly wants to get to know a poet can follow. She’s one of the best at twisting words around the page (quite literally), and she does so in such a way that it makes you want to read on.

Weaknesses:

She does not attempt to stray from her comfort zone too often, but this is probably one of the most cherished aspects of her poetry in the eyes of her most passionate readers. Her aforementioned twisted words are a bit overwhelming, at times, when it seems as if you’re meant to read two lines simultaneously… but such confusion is life as well, and perhaps that’s where she’s getting at.

Rating (1-10): 9

Overall Analysis:

A solid 9 for a solid poet who should be one of the best for years to come.

Strengths:

Another poet who has so much to say (meant in a very good way). Every piece touches on so many ideas in the most subtle of fashions, all while entertaining the reader with interesting word and phrase choices. A smart writer, to say the least.

Weaknesses:

Quite succinct at times, when you want her to keep going, expanding the thought’s track that she’s placed you on. This might leave most readers feeling either abandoned or ignored, but might allow some to utilize their own imaginations and not merely be entertained.

Rating (1-10): 8

Overall Analysis:

A great writer who puts forth a very valiant effort time and again. Although she’s experimented with a couple of different forms, her potential to be able to do more with that is obvious. She’s poetically asked us to “rearrange [her] sorry life in alphabetical order”… and to that I’d have to remove the “sorry” and place her work amongst the A-list.

Strengths:

Style, ENERGY, creativity, and Style (yes, it’s worth mentioning twice).

Weaknesses:

A ton of stuff going on in her blog area make it hard to find poetry, but there’s also a ton of stuff going on in her poetry that not only makes the clutter worth it, but it defines the meaning and reasoning behind the intensity of the page. Her words are sometimes too simple, but the underlying thought process is what shines through once you get her style.

Rating (1-10): 8

Overall Analysis:

You kinda have to take the time to keep reading through her work to realize her poetic intensity and drive, but once you’ve done so… you’ll get what I mean when I say her poetry is penetrating in such a good way.
